I love seafood and fish of all kinds.
Feeling like fish sticks today I decided to try a new place to eat today - Long John Silver's.
I have never been here before, and of course I am up for a challenge - can I eat low carb in this place?
So I looked over the menu and noticed that with my fish sticks and chicken meal I had a choice of two sides.
Many places that serve fries with their meals now have alternative sides like salads and coleslaw. Long John Silver's had both. I that's what I got for my two sides.
I have found over the years that making simple swaps like this - coleslaw for fries, or If I am eating out for breakfast and order an omelet (which is typically served with hash browns) then I ask the waitress to serve cottage cheese instead of the hash browns, makes eating low carb on the go easy.
Of course there is the breading on the fish sticks and chicken. But I usually peel the extra off as I am eating. Most have too much breading anyway.
When I was done this is what was left:
Ugh! Just looking at all that extra breading gave me a belly ache.
The food was a little greasier than I liked, but it was deep fried. All in all it was delicious!
What about you? Where do you eat out and how do you do it on a low carb diet?
