However, having dessert on a low carb diet is usually a no-no.
Well here's a dessert that tastes fabulous and will lower your carb count by more than half of what it would be by having a conventional icecr3eam sunday.
You see, like everyone I have my cravings. Although I watch my carb intake very well, I still like to splurge.
The problem is the guilt I get half way through eating a dessert for thinking of the carbs I am consuming make splurging not so fun.
So I came up with this delicious alternative! A low carb Ice Cream Sundae.
Here's what I use:
Breyers Carb Smart Ice Cream in vanilla flavor. It has 4 grams of carbs per serving, which is 1/2 cup. Not bad. They also have this available in chocolate if that is your preference.
If you like chocolate topping as well try Hershey's Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup as well.
After the caramel topping I add on a few lightly chopped pecans. Yum! You can add almonds, cashews, or peanuts as well. And if you like you can also add whipping cream to top it off.
This one is not recommended if you are trying to get into or stay into Ketosis, unless you can have it and still keep below 20 grams of carbs per day.
Sometimes making the sacrifice in other places is worth having a dessert later.
Total carbs: 13 grams if you stay at the serving size on the packages.
What about you? Are there any low carb dessert indulges you'd like to share? Post them below...
